George Michael Faith

This was the debut album by George after his split from the pop teen group Wham. Although during his spell with Wham he had released solo material notably Careless Whisper hitting number one and also working with Elton John and Aretha Franklin this was enough to give him the nudge that he could make it on his own.

In October 1987 he finally released the anticipated album Faith. The album was a huge success. The fact he wrote most of the songs, played most of the instruments and produced most of the work was a great testament and this was reflected in a new audience and the sales had soared both in the UK and America.

Previously his Wham material was all teeny pop sounds but the new album was a more adult soulful R&B sound with links to Motown, Jazz and Funk.

The Album was released on Columbia and Epic Records. The album reached number one in the UK and USA. To date the album has sold over 25 million copies. Another notable achievement was winning the Grammy award in 1989.

The album saw 6 singles released from it including Faith, Father figure and One More Try.
